The COVID-19 vaccine is free under the NIP for:

  • All adults ages 75 years and over (2 doses a year, given 6 months apart)

  • Adults aged 65-74 years (one free dose a year)

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50-74 years (one free dose a year)

  • Adults aged 18-64 who have severe immunocompromise (one free dose a year) - see the specified medical risk conditions

To be eligible you must have a Medicare card OR be eligible for one.

If you are NOT eligible for the free COVID vaccine, talk to your pharmacist about whether this vaccination is recommended for you. If you do require the COVID vaccine, not under NIP, you will have to pay for that as a Private script.
